Chase County has a lot to offer, especially in the towns of Imperial and Wauneta. Both have a relaxed, small-town vibe that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re grabbing a bite at a local restaurant or staying in a local lodging option, it’s easy to settle in and enjoy the slower pace of life.
Throughout the year, numerous local events bring people together. From fairs to festivals, there’s always something happening, and it’s a great way to experience the community spirit and get to know the friendly folks around here.

Chase County Fair and Expo
The Chase County Fair and Expo, alternatively known as the "Western Nebraska State Fair," is a week-long event in August. Each year, the Fair and Expo draws in 4-H competitions, rodeos, tractor pulls, concerts, food trucks, races, a parade, amusement rides, and more. Previous performers include Brothers Osborne, Old Dominion, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Montgomery Gentry, Josh Turner, and Megan Moroney.
Smokin' on Broadway
The Chase County Smokin' on Broadway is an event in late June featuring live music performances, entertainment, and lots of barbecue. This event is excellent for individuals looking to compete in the barbecue competition or simply enjoy the food. With live music, it is a great experience for all!
Wauneta Harvest Festival
The Wauneta Harvest Festival takes place every August. It is a 4-day event featuring competitive recreation events, farmers markets, photo contests, free swim and pool games, cornhole tournaments, races, parades, and more. Join the community of Wauneta for this "hometown proud" event!
Imperial Lanes Bowling
The Imperial Lanes Bowling Alley is typically open on Friday and Saturday evenings starting at 7 PM during the autumn, winter, and spring months. The Imperial Lanes League Bowling hosts regular competitions for Women's League, Men's League, Couples' League, and Children's League. Imperial Lanes is a great location to rent out for company parties, birthday parties, and other occasions!
Imperial Movie Theatre
The Imperial Movie Theater is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at 7:30, 7:30, and 7:00 PM, respectively. Ticket prices are $5 for ages 4 and up.
Imperial Lied Library
The Imperial Lied Library is typically open the day-time hours Monday through Saturday. Be sure to stop by to check out a book for your stay or check out pickleball equipment!
Chase County Historical Museum
Champion is home to the Chase County Historical Museum. On display are more than 1,800 items, some loaned from members of the community and some dating back to the 1700s. Common items include antique clothing, housewares, military service uniforms, barbed wire selections, and farm machinery. The museum is open on Sundays from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm between Mother's Day and Labor Day or by appointment at Broadway and Chase Street in Champion, NE.
