OUR COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Located
along Highway 6 on the southeastern edge of Chase County, Wauneta is an
active ranching community that lies next the Frenchman River, and has
some of the finest pheasant and deer hunting in the area. The community
offers a well maintained park with a gazebo, picnic area, swimming pool
and sports fields. A nine-hole sand green golf course is within walking
distance. Downtown is a bustling business community which features the
fully-renovated, historic Chateau Theater, where top rated movies are
shown each weekend and live performances are offered throughout the year.
xxxThe scenic drive north of town along Highway
6 meanders through the canyon country between Wauneta and Imperial, revealing
a great vista of open country and rugged terrain. A rustic rest area and
scenic overlook known as the "Little Grand Canyon" is offered
to those willing to take the time to experience a spectacular view of
the Frenchman River Valley.
xxxWauneta is a full service community including
a medical clinic, nursing home, and K-12 school system. For more detailed
